After a day of strolling around Stockholm’s old town, on day two the itinerary was to take a cruise along Stockholm’s archipelago. That being said, this was not a cruise one imagines when the word comes to mind, but actually a boat ride via public transport. This was the view as the boat began.
After about half an hour, there was no more city and mostly nature.
Then we reached the first destination of the day, Vaxholm fortress. The fortress has a long history or resisting invaders, and was even a prison at one point. These days, it is simply a museum, albeit a colorful one.

From there it was a short ferry ride to neighboring Vaxon island, which is part of Vaxholm municipality.

The island is quaint and charming, with pedestrianized areas for walking.

Residents and tourists sat and enjoyed the day.

I grabbed some type of wrap at a local bakery. I don’t know exactly what it was as the name was in Swedish, but it was tasty.
From here it was the voyage back to Stockholm. Once again, the scenery shifted to nature.
Finally, the city came back into view.
Now, it was off to rest as the next day would be the final destination of this Scandinavian trip: Copenhagen, Denmark.
