Arequipa, Peru: Day 2

To begin my second day in Arequipa, I had a crepe for breakfast at the hotel. It was as good as it looks.

I then went for a stroll. I saw a park of palm trees, which I found interesting since the coast is hours away.

I saw a couple of bridges. As an architecture buff, I found them fascinating.

I took a lunch break. I had the famous dish guinea pig, something I dared not to try on my previous trip. To be honest, it tasted like chicken.

After lunch,  I headed to the Yanahuara district to get a view of one of the seven (!) volcanoes that surround the city: El Misti. The view was serene on a clear day. And luckily no eruption, as it is active.

That wrapped up my day in the city. It was now time for dinner. I had a chicken stew.

Unfortunately, it was time to fly back home. If I had the time, I would return to Arequipa to explore the Colca Canyon. Peru is a wonderful country full of stunning sights and is worth visiting, particularly off the main tourist track.
