Norway in a Nutshell: Part 3

After the wonderful electric boat ride in the Nærøyfjord, it was time to head to Oslo. This involved taking the Flåm railway and then switching to a regular long distance train. It opened in 1941 and is now the third most visited attraction in Norway.

The highlight of the ride is waterfalls. One thing I noted is that in Norway the waterfalls tended to be skinny as opposed to the majestic ones of Iceland.

The train actually makes a stop for one particular waterfall, to give tourists the opportunity to take pictures. This is a tourist line, no commuters ride it.

The line stops in Myrdal, and most people head back to Bergen. However, as I wanted to see Oslo, I took the train in that direction instead. This is a long train ride, 4-5 hours, which makes for a very long day. However, at least the views are nice.

Finally, I arrived in Oslo, but by this time it was late night. But I had one day to spend in the city I had missed on my Scandinavia trip years earlier.
