After a day of driving in from Midland and exploring Santa Elena Canyon, it was time for the main event: rafting through the Santa Elena Canyon on the Rio Grande. I used the company Big Bend Boating and Hiking Company.
After meeting in the morning at the office, it was time to drove back to the canyon. We dropped the canoe in the water and off we went. One thing to note, September is the best month to come due to rain. At this moment, water levels are extremely low, to the point your oar hits the ground all the time.

After a couple of hours of rafting we took a break. Good thing I bought a hat at the Chisos Lodge gift shop because the sun was blaring down.

And we then took a quick hike to yet another slit in the canyon. Our guide Chris was fantastic.

It was now dinner time. Since I was already in Terlingua (a ghost town), I decided to go to the locally legendary restaurant the Starlight Theatre. It used to be a theatre, thus the name. This food was significantly better than the mediocre restaurant at the motel.

That was the end of day two in the park. Now it was time to head to the McDonald Observatory, a place for all science geeks like myself.
