Helsinki, Finland: Day 2

After a day trip to Tallinn, Estonia, I had one day left in Helsinki. The day started with a trip to a Nuuksio Reindeer Park. To get there required a train to a bus. The bus station itself was remarkable architecture.

Never in my life did I think I would ever see a reindeer: this was a once in a lifetime experience.

There was also an indoor area, presumably for the winter.

By now it was lunch time. I had salmon soup and fried vendace (a small Finnish fish).

I had the rest of the day to burn. My first stop was Olympic Stadium, home of the 1952 Summer Olympics. This was a view of the outside.

And this is a view from the inside.

To get to the tram stop back to the center, I had to walk near this pond. There were many locals who used this as a place to take a walk.

The rest of my day was to be used to see modern architecture, of which I am a huge fan. There are simply no words to describe this architecture except creative. I love it.

Now it was time to head back to the hotel. On the way, there was one church in the Orthodox style, similar to the one in Tallinn.

Then it was back to the hotel; one last picture for the road.

This was the end of my time in Helsinki. Luckily, I had one more stop before heading home: Scotland.
