Oslo, a city that I had meant to visit years earlier on my trip through Iceland, Sweden, and Denmark, but missed. But thankfully in life, sometimes there are second chances.
After resting up after a long train ride, I woke up to this view from my room at the Radisson Blu Plaza hotel.

Now, it was time to explore on this last day of my trip. I took a stroll around the city center.

Then it was the building I had been pining to see, the Oslo Opera House. As a modernist architecture fanatic, this was a dream come true.

I approached at the marvel.

The best part of this building is it is one can actually walk on the sides of the building at an angled slope.

On my walk to lunch I noticed a protest supporting Ukraine. Sadly, today marked four years since the start of the invasion.

Lunch was a traditional Norwegian dish.

Not it was time for more walking. My goal was to go to Aker Brygge, a neighborhood that was totally revitalized from an industrial area to a waterfront hotspot. There was a traditional boat displayed on the harbor.

The Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art is located a bit further down in Tjuvholmen.

Now, the final goal of the day was to walk to the Frogner Park. Along the way, I saw a fascinating piece of art.

Frogner Park is most famous for its installation of sculptures by the legendary Gustav Vigeland. I could see them from a distance.

Finally, I made it.

I can’t say I’ve ever seen sculptures quite like these before in my life. I don’t even have words to describe them.

After staring in astonishment for some time, it was off to the Royal Palace, a short walk away. As a constitutional monarchy, Norway still has a King. The current king is Harald V.

Finally, it was time for dinner: fish and chips. I went to Fiskeriet Youngstorget, a very popular restaurant. Luckily for me, there was only one small table left. To be frank, I wasn’t even hungry after the huge lunch, but I had to eat fresh fish one last time in Norway. The meal was delectable.

And that was it for my Norwegian odyssey. I had done a lot in three days. I quite enjoyed the country, whether touristy Bergen, the nature of the fjords, or modern Oslo. Now only one Scandinavian country was left for me to see: Finland. That will be for another post.
