Arequipa, Peru: Day 1

After ten days of grueling work, it was time to head back home. But not without a stopover, of course. The destination was one relatively off the mainstream tourist track: Arequipa, Peru, the gateway to the Colca Canyon.

To get there required another two hour drive back to Tacna and then a short domestic flight. By the time of arrival, it was late afternoon. I took a stroll to the Plaza de Armas.

There was nothing left to do but eat dinner. I had a stewed fish dish.

After dinner, night had fallen. I took a stroll around the center yet again. The buildings were lit up and looked beautiful against the night sky.

That was it for the day. Luckily, however, I still had one more day to explore the city.
