Savannah, Georgia: a place I had always wanted to visit ever since I went to Charleston. Now I had the opportunity, so I took it.
The flight to Savannah was quite expensive, so I flew to Charleston and took a two hour bus ride to Savannah instead. Not your typical Greyhound bus, but a minivan of sorts. The ride was relatively uneventful, but there was a nice bridge upon entering Savannah.

Savannah is a city full of squares and parks. Just near our hotel was one that had the ubiquitous Spanish moss trees that the city is known for: Forsyth Park.

In the middle of this park was a fountain.

It was now time for lunch at the Olde Pink House, one of Savannah’s most famous restaurants. Fried chicken, collard greens, and macaroni and cheese. Suffice to say, I was unable to eat the rest of the day.

After lunch, it was off to the Wormsloe Historic Site, home of the classic image of Spanish moss trees overhanging a roadway.

Now it was back to downtown, to River Street, where a holiday parade was scheduled for the evening. River Street is at a lower level than the rest of downtown.

After dark, the parade began in earnest.

That was quite the eventful day. Luckily, I still had one left in this majestic Southern city.
