Sierra Gorda, Mexico: Day 2, Part 2

After a sublime morning above the clouds, the first priority was to eat, as I hadn’t eaten at all since the day began at 4 AM.

Gorditas!

After a cheap, filling meal, it was time for the second destination of the day: Puente de dios, or bridge of the gods in English. I had been to a place with the same name in the Huasteca Potosina nine years earlier, but this one was different. For one, the water is extremely cold in the Sierra Gorda. I’m told it is like this all year long, because it comes from the mountains. Secondly, to get to the end, it requires a walk, through water. Luckily, I brought water shoes.

I began the walk. The water was clear like at the Chuveje waterfall.

Look out below.

A beautiful waterfall.

A smaller waterfall.

A larger waterfall.

Finally, I reached the end. A cave of sorts, with water dripping. A beautiful (but cold) end to the walk.

It was time to head back now. For some reason, I took a picture of the ground before heading back.

To be honest, this was probably enough for one day. But I had seen an interesting picture online the night before, and asked the driver if he would take us. That led to probably the most interesting travel experience I’ve ever had.
